things i’ve come across in my apush notes while studying
- “reasons why the south left the union: attacks on ‘property’ (i.e. slaves) (i.e. they’re racist poopfucks)”
- “a donkey was killed. this starts the civil war.”
- “the only good rap song is ‘back dat ass up’”
Do you ever think about the fact that the US has created and legitimized a system of institutionalized inequality by funding schools through property taxes? That basically a child’s education is only as good as the value of the property in their neighborhood. Funny how education is so often viewed as an equalizing factor when there is nothing equal about it.

Royal Heart, at the Highline Ballroom. I love how purple this is. Everything is better in purple.
Westerners are fond of the saying ‘Life isn’t fair.’ Then, they end in snide triumphant: ‘So get used to it!’
What a cruel, sadistic notion to revel in! What a terrible, patriarchal response to a child’s budding sense of ethics. Announce to an Iroquois, ‘Life isn’t fair,’ and her response will be: ‘Then make it fair!’ This is the matriarchal approach to learning.
